This project marks a special milestone for S&A Fabrications, as it is the company's first venture into hangar construction. The state-of-the-art facility was purpose-built to meet Airbourne Colours' growing demand for aircraft painting services, designed to accommodate various aircraft sizes, from small private jets to larger commercial airliners. The new hangar enhances Airbourne Colours' capacity to deliver high-quality finishing services, strengthening its position as a leading provider in the UK aviation sector.
The hangar’s completion is also a key part of the ongoing revitalisation of Teesside International Airport, which has seen significant investment in recent years. This new facility is expected to create up to 100 jobs in the region, supporting the growth of both the aviation industry and the local economy.
Based out of Barnard Castle, S&A Fabrications is especially proud to have been chosen for this project, demonstrating the company's expanding expertise in large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. "This hangar is a major achievement for us as it’s our first venture into hangar construction. We're incredibly proud to see our work play such a pivotal role in Teesside’s aviation growth, delivered on time and on budget" said Simon Pelly, MD at S&A Fabrications.
Building on the success of this project, S&A Fabrications is now tendering for an additional four hangars at Teesside International Airport, and is establishing a permanent site at the airport, further solidifying its role in the region’s aviation and construction industries. These new projects would continue to support the airport’s growth and boost employment opportunities across Teesside.
